The ILT20 Season 5 format is a T20 double round-robin plus a four-match playoff. Six teams. Thirty league games. Four knockout games. No group stage inside the league. The rules page is the short version of this explainer.
What Is the ILT20 Season 5 Format?
Each club plays each other club twice. That is ten games, and it is the whole league. The top four on points advance. Seeds 1 and 2 play Qualifier 1. Seeds 3 and 4 play an eliminator. The qualifier loser meets the eliminator winner in Qualifier 2. Those two winners play the final.
How the ILT20 Season 5 Format Works in Practice
Dates already fixed: Qualifier 1 on 16 December in Abu Dhabi, the eliminator on 17 December in Dubai, Qualifier 2 on 18 December in Sharjah, the final on 20 December in Dubai. All four are scheduled for 6:30 pm GST. No match is listed on 19 December.

Thirty league matches is six times five, which is also six teams times ten games, divided by two so each game is not counted twice. The playoff adds four. The season total is 34. If you see a schedule with a different count, it is not this fixture list.
Rules, Tie-Breakers and Special Cases
Games are twenty overs a side unless reduced. The published overseas norm is up to nine in a playing XI. Local and UAE-designated places still matter. Points in previous seasons were two for a win. The Season 5 PDF was not confirmed on 30 October 2026. A tie-break that the PDF later names will replace this paragraph, with a new date.
How the ILT20 Season 5 Format Changes the Race for the Playoffs
Because the league is short, one no-result or one collapse moves a seed. Net run rate does not pull fifth into January. Only the top four travel.
Count the games yourself
Six teams, each plays the other five twice. That is ten league games a side. Six times ten is 60 team-games, and every match has two teams, so the league is 30 matches. Add Qualifier 1, the eliminator, Qualifier 2 and the final. The season is 34. If a graphic shows another total, it is not this fixture list. Double-headers fall on 22, 28 and 29 November and on 2, 6 and 13 December. Some of those split across two cities. The format does not care that a fan wanted both. The clocks do.
Night games on this list are 6:30 pm GST, which is 7:30 pm PKT and 8:00 pm IST. Afternoon games are 2:00 pm GST, 3:00 pm PKT and 3:30 pm IST. The four playoff nights are all 6:30 pm GST. Qualifier 1 is Abu Dhabi on 16 December. The eliminator is Dubai on 17 December. Qualifier 2 is Sharjah on 18 December. The final is Dubai on 20 December. There is no match on 19 December. Overseas places follow the published norm of up to nine in an XI until a Season 5 PDF says otherwise. That PDF was not in hand on 30 October 2026.

Saturday 28 November 2026: Match 9 is MI Emirates vs Desert Vipers in Abu Dhabi at 2:00 pm GST. Match 10 is Gulf Giants vs Dubai Capitals in Dubai at 6:30 pm GST.
Sunday 29 November 2026: Match 11 is Abu Dhabi Knight Riders vs Sharjah Warriorz in Abu Dhabi at 2:00 pm GST. Match 12 is Desert Vipers vs Gulf Giants in Dubai at 6:30 pm GST.
Wednesday 2 December 2026: Match 15 is Abu Dhabi Knight Riders vs Desert Vipers in Abu Dhabi at 2:00 pm GST. Match 16 is Dubai Capitals vs MI Emirates in Dubai at 6:30 pm GST.
Sunday 6 December 2026: Match 20 is MI Emirates vs Sharjah Warriorz in Abu Dhabi at 2:00 pm GST. Match 21 is Desert Vipers vs Dubai Capitals in Dubai at 6:30 pm GST.
Sunday 13 December 2026: Match 28 is MI Emirates vs Dubai Capitals in Abu Dhabi at 2:00 pm GST. Match 29 is Gulf Giants vs Desert Vipers in Dubai at 6:30 pm GST.
